What Is LED Light Therapy and is it Safe?

LED Light Therapy is the use of specific types of light that give off energy that stimulates your cells, thereby increasing the production of collagen and elastin. In turn, this makes your skin firmer, less wrinkled, and younger-looking. This is known as LED Light Therapy. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Diodes give off energy in the form of light. These little diodes are compact, durable, powerful, bright, efficient, and, when used in the right combination (not all LEDs are created equal), produce rejuvenating effects on the skin. In the same way that we become more energized with the lighter, more prolonged days of spring, LED helps to stimulate energy in our cells, activating the natural, rejuvenating, healing process. Our body is a brilliant machine, and given the right tools, such as proper, effective skincare, and some of today’s safe, effective, cutting edge devices, like micro-current and LED, we can absolutely, correct and prevent the signs of aging.

The Deets On Infra Slim Body Detox & Osmosis Body Sculpt Treatments

Here's the breakdown of the benefits of the Infra Slim Body Detox vs the Osmosis Body Sculpt. The recommended frequency of visits when doing a series is 2 x per week. These two can be used together quite nicely to accelerate progress.

Infra Slim Body Detox

This revolutionary, new infrared pressure therapy rids the body of fat and inches while detoxifying it. It’s a great way to prep your body for a special event where you want to look and feel your best. Treat yourself before a wedding, reunion, graduation or big event! This is also great for a little “cleanse” or “detox” or refresher after traveling or overindulging. Plus it can kick-start the body’s metabolism when weight or fat loss is the larger goal.

Benefits Include:

  • Increased Energy

  • Slimmer and Firmer Body

  • Fat Loss

  • Cellulite Reduction

  • Enhanced Skin Tone

  • Detox

  • Speeds up Healing Time

  • An Overall Feeling of Increased Well-Being

  • Reduces Swelling and Pain

Osmosis Body Sculpt

Nano-current technology has arrived for body sculpting! Body contouring with Osmosis Sculpt is the most advanced and effective holistic body sculpting and fat loss device in the world. Freezing and/or melting fat harms the body and often leaves patchy results. Osmosis Sculpt works by using patented nano-current waveform technology. The advantage is that we create targeted fat loss by safely accelerating the detox and lipolysis needed to create long-term slimming. Single sessions can stimulate the sculpting and detoxifying process, and help maintain your results once they are achieved. Multiple series are recommended (a must!)  to stimulate change.

Benefits Include:

  • Increased Energy

  • Sculpting and Muscle Definition

  • Slimmer and Firmer Body

  • Fat Loss

  • Detox

  • Weight Loss

  • Kicks Up Workouts

  • Increases ATP and Fat Burning Capabilities

*Individual goals and needs may vary. We can help you determine your "protocol" and maintenance regimen based on your personal goals at the time of the first visit.

Sara Plummer is a Wellness Coach specializing in Relationship, Mental, and Physical Health, and founder of gethealthysexyhappy.com . She is a thought leader in channeling feminine energy and helping others discover their light and living the life they deserve. She also shares tons of tips on how to get healthier, sexier, and happier individually and together as a couple. She had clients that were into Cool Sculpting, a process that freezes fat cells. It takes months to see results, and clients have reported seeing new fat deposits in less desirable places, much like traditional liposuction or other heating or freezing modalities out there. Read about her real-life experience with our Body Sculpt process here!

Sara had three sessions covering her abdominals for approximately ten days. To get the most of this minimal trial, she was told to drink tons of water, no booze, less coffee, and to eat easy to digest foods such as the green smoothies she loves. The 20-minute sessions were described as “surprising at first and a bit vulnerable, but quickly easy to acclimate to.” She reported soreness the next day, but also the following:

  • Ab definition and strength she hadn’t enjoyed in months

  • For those that "used to be" athletes, it was a nice quick bounce back

  • The upper thigh skin was noticeably smoother and tighter, and the light cellulite largely is gone

  • Regarding our All Natural Spray Tan, “(I) have never had an evener tone on my hands and feet. A gem of a find for my northern European buns.”

  • “I was very impressed with Lisa Eddy’s choices and direction. I’ll be back.”

Thank you so much, Devon! A few highlights from the post include:

  • When she messaged me...to come in and get a facial, it was an immediate yes. And even then, I didn’t know how important my skin was about to become.

  • The occasional break-out and big dry patches that lined my chin, I had written them off as “just my skin.”

  • After my facial, I touched my skin and couldn’t believe it was mine.

  • To this day, these products are a massive part of my skincare routine.

  • The best part? All of the products she uses (and creates) are all-natural.

  • I’ve had aestheticians in the past who used all-natural products, and my skin still felt lackluster and lifeless.

Skip Botox & Reverse Aging with Microcurrent Facials!

Look younger with the Microcurrent Treatments.  We have moved beyond Anti-Aging into Age Reversal!  Though I prefer to talk about aging gracefully, because we are going to age, it's just about how we do it. Yes, we can truly prevent AND reverse aging now. And, THIS is how we do it!What is microcurrent and what does it do?The technology is incredible. Microcurrent was designed to lift and tone the muscles, replicating a workout for your face. It's pretty incredible stuff. We have electrical charges pulsating throughout our bodies. Microcurrent mimics the body’s own natural bio electrical field and sends tiny electrical currents to our muscles. According to CACI, a British company which has been making professional micro current machines for decades: “Combining ultra low frequencies with a modified waveform enables the micro-current to recharge the electrical potential of the muscle by stimulating the spindle cell fibers that run the length of the muscle and attach to the golgi tendon organ in the belly of the muscle.”There are over 30 muscles in the face, and microcurrent can be used to stimulate the muscles. There is no muscle contraction. The muscle is woken up, and the current reminds it where it used to be (before gravity wore it down) and muscle memory is reactivated. So, used over time, the muscles are re-educated to resume their place for a perky and plumper look.[If this is giving you ideas about other areas to target on your body- don't worry- we have you covered!]Originally developed for treating facial palsy, microcurrent in the esthetic realm can also:• Increase blood and lymph circulation• Enhance the penetration of the active ingredients of skin care formulations• Increase the production of collagen and elastin• Increase protein synthesis, gluconeogenesis and cell membrane transportAdditionally, research has shown that microcurrent may help with anti-aging at an even deeper level. In 1982, researcher Ngok Cheng led a study that provided hard evidence of microcurrent's role in cellular vitality by proving that microcurrent increased levels of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in lab-rat skin cells by 500 percent. ATP is the fuel a cell needs to function. Actually ATP is a really big deal as it is the energy that fuels all biochemical functions in the body. It boosts protein synthesis, necessary for tissue repair. The Difference: Cause and Effects of Botox versus MicrocurrentBotox inhibits the muscle movements that cause expression lines. If a muscle is immobilized, even temporarily, it will use less energy and start to atrophy. Indeed, atrophy can be utilized for esthetic effect — for example, a cheek can be given a hefty dose of Botox to slim it down. But for me, that’s one of the problems with Botox; muscle atrophy leads to sunken faces and skin that folds into marionette lines. Me, I’d rather opt for plumping. And that’s where microcurrent comes in, as it lifts and re-educates muscles. Whereas Botox can make the face hollow and concave, microcurrent achieves what Dr. Perricone calls "convexities" in the face. "Convexities are what make you youthful," he says.Who and what is it good for? *Anyone who understands the benefits of working out will understand the cause and effect of microcurrent!Conditions: prevention, loose aging skin; sagging eye lids or jowls and neck; deep wrinkles around mouth; the lines between the brows; as well as acne, rosacea and uneven skin tones.A series is recommended to improve the skin and then maintained with regular visits. Most clients of mine opt for a series of Microcurrent facials, and the results are nothing short of impressive. See before and after photos for yourself! Results are visible with one treatment and longer lasting with a series.A single session is lovely for maintenance or just a little ” pick me up”, pun intended. :)  A series is recommended in a specific time frame to make lasting noticeable change in your skin, and then maintained monthly (actually recommended every 3 weeks) to uphold the results.Great for getting immediate rewards.  The skin is lifted and NOT irritated which makes this an ideal treatment for brides, mothers of bride, any big events or reunions, and just to look your very best every day for YOU!*Contraindications:  Pregnancy, Epilepsy & PacemakersOriginally developed for treating facial palsy, microcurrent in the esthetic realm can:• Re-educate muscles• Increase blood and lymph circulation• Enhance the penetration of the active ingredients of skin care formulations (for the ultimate fountain of youth, see this facial combined with LED)• Increase the production of collagen and elastin• Increase protein synthesis, gluconeogenesis and cell membrane transportScience BackedAdditionally, research has shown that microcurrent may help with anti-aging at an even deeper level. It boosts protein synthesis, necessary for tissue repair.Recommended Visits as General Guidelines:Anti-aging protocol based on age group NOT on specific conditions ic. acne/rocacea ect but for normal again skin.Ages 20-35 Every 3-4 weeks for maintenance treatments.Ages 35-45  Weekly every week for two months, then every 21 days for maintenance.Ages 45-55  Twice a week for one month, once a week for the 2nd month, then once every 21-30 days for maintenance.Ages 55-70  Three times a week for one month, once a week for 2nd month, followed by once every 10 days for maintenance.*For 45 & up, I have seen improvements at just once a week, though, case by case and dependent upon condition.**Microcurrent is used therapeutically to relieve muscle pain and to stimulate the muscles to restore a more youthful look to our faces.DIY Micro current?Indeed.  There are now safe and non-invasive, there are now available for use at home!  They are not all created equal so don't be fooled.  Here is one I can endorse at a price that won't break the bank!https://www.lisaeddy.com/product/myolift/

Oh! That dreaded cellulite!

celllulite.jpg

Cellulite is SO tricky and plagues so many beautiful beings I know.  I have been searching high and low for products and information to share with the world that actually work and by golly, I've got it! The Ayurvedic ways really speak to me as it encompasses all of us as physical, emotional and spiritual beings. Here is a wonderful article that was written by  Judith Bourgeois,  Manager of Education and Sales @Shankara Skincare.  She spells out beautifully what cellulite is and the things that affect it.  Just like all skin conditions, it starts on the inside.   In order to treat this challenging condition, we need to address it both topically and internally.   Enjoy. Oh! That dreaded cellulite! So you’re standing in front of the mirror in your underwear with just the right lighting and there it is! The dreaded cellulite! Why is it that some people seem blessed with smooth skin when so many of us, no matter our shape or size are struggling with this unwanted companion?Like anything else happening on the skin level, cellulite is just another one of the many signals the body gives us that something deeper needs a little attention. According to Ayurveda, cellulite comes when saturated fat (Vasa) interacts with digestive impurities (Ama) and generates a heavy, sticky substance that sits in the fat cells. The key is to break down the link between the Vasa fat and the Ama impurities. How do we do that? Why we accumulate toxins in the first placeToxins or Ama are created when something is not digested properly. We all know about physical Ama but there is something a bit more subtle called emotional Ama. Yes, our emotions can also contribute to havoc in the body and not just in the obvious places.  This sticky Ama, both physical and emotional, floats around and usually will start to accumulate in areas where we have an imbalance or weakness. Keep that fire burning! In Ayurveda we often talk about the importance of the digestive fire or Agni. When the fire is high we digest properly. In order for our digestive fire to burn clean and not leave residue, we need to keep in mind a few things. These are really simple and easy to implement but can have a profound impact on our well-being and our ability to cut down on toxin accumulation.Eat only when hungry – Have you ever eaten something just to make you feel better? Because you felt tensed?  Bored? Sad?  Because everyone else was having dinner? When you are not hungry your digestive fire is not really up for the job and what you eat won’t get digested properly.  Take advantage of nature’s cycles for better digestion - Have you ever wondered why when you stay up late at night and10 pm comes around you suddenly feel like eating again? This is because the fire element gets activated at that time. The fire element or what we call Pitta in Ayurveda gets activated between 10am and 2pm and again between 10pm and 2am. Your digestion is at its peak during the first Pitta cycle of the day and this is why it is a good idea to eat your largest meal of the day around noon time. When the second Pitta cycle comes around at night, the digestive fire isn't actually meant to digest more food and is instead intended to detoxify the body by burning up toxins. If you are in bed by the time this second Pitta cycle comes around you will fully take advantage of that cleansing time of the day. Kindle your digestive fire (Agni) – If you feel that your digestion is a bit sluggish you can support your digestive fire by having a pinch of ginger sprinkled with a little salt and lemon juice five minutes or so before your meal. Drinking ginger tea is also a great way to support your digestion. Avoid drinking cold beverages with your meal. Cold liquids or even cold foods will cool down the digestive fire and disturb digestion. Remember that you want to keep that fire burning strong to avoid creating toxins. It is perfectly OK to drink small amounts of hot water throughout your meal though. You will be helping the digestive process by making things a little more liquid especially if you are having something a bit too dry or heavy.Another really easy tip to support your digestion is to sit down when you eat and to stay seated for at least five to ten minutes after you are done eating. Sounds strange? Well, again if we look into Ayurveda’s wisdom we learn that the air element Vata located in the lower abdomen has a naturally downward flow and helps with proper elimination. Something interesting happens to that particular Vata when you stand up while eating. It starts to move upward and basically blows out the digestive fire. This means that anything you eat after you stand up won’t be properly assimilated. Simply make sure you have everything you need for your meal before you sit down to eat so you do not have to get up before you are done eating. Too much of a good thing - We have all heard that we should not overeat but why is this important? It is not just a matter of too many calories. For digestion to happen properly we need a strong digestive fire AND space. If we were to visualize a hunger scale where 0 means starved and 10 means so stuffed we cannot even imagine taking another bite, we should start eating at a 1 or 2 for our digestive fire to be strong and stop at around 6 or 7 when we feel comfortably satisfied.     Undigested emotionsAs mentioned above, unprocessed emotions will create toxins in the body just as easily as undigested food.  So what does it mean to properly digest emotions? It simply means to be fully present with our experience, in the moment and not to try to suppress, hide from, judge, or in any other way try to avoid feeling. Easier said than done, I know! In the moment you may not be able to fully be with what you are experiencing but as soon as you can after the event is over, try to find a quiet place where you can let yourself experience what it is you are feeling. You might start feeling anger rise up for example and if you are simply with it without judgment you might be able to feel what is underneath the anger. Maybe there is fear or sadness, maybe some past hurt. As you let things flow these emotions can be processed and transformed. Underneath all of these emotions is the untouched, magnificent you. Yes, even if you don’t feel it in that moment…  Breathing exercises can help release trapped negative emotions and bring balance to the whole being.Meditation not only brings deep relaxation but can also help us be more present in our daily life. As we become able to witness what is happening with more clarity, we can choose to act purposefully, as opposed to simply reacting to stressful situations. Doing so helps us to avoid accumulating unnecessary tensions. Yoga is also a wonderful way to de-stress and become more present and mindful in our life with the advantage of helping the body stay flexible and strong and able to fight off stress more efficiently. A little self-care for your skin too!Incorporating skin brushing or using a body scrub before showering can really help the skin let go of more toxins and congestion and aid with the presence of cellulite. Incorporating self-massage is also a wonderful way to invigorate and rejuvenate the skin.If cellulite is a concern for you or if you simply want to help the body naturally shed unnecessary toxic accumulations feel free to take a look at the following products I have just brought on to help you: Dead Sea Salt Scrub, Cellulite Support Activatar, and the Cellulite Support Oil

The 411 on Sunscreen for Preventing Burns & Aging

applyyourspf-e1528208703860.jpg

Just when I was about to spend the time breaking down what this all means on sunscreen and how to use it, I found this gem of an article written by the lovely, Tricia Trimble.  Tricia is the founder of the beautiful, holistic Suntegrity Skincare line I have been using and selling for years now.  I figure why "reinvent the wheel"  when she has done the work of clarifying all you need to know to understand and use your SPF correctly to prevent burns and damage. I'm not sure if you know her story but her mom passed away from skin cancer which is why Tricia went on to "create lemonade out of lemons" as she told me when we met! Her passion for creating a healthy sunscreen to not only prevent sunburns but also cancer and damage to our environment and ecosystem is contagious and inspiring!  She is a lovely human doing good things.

"Ride The Heat Wave" By Tricia Trimble for Les Nouvelles Esthetique & Spa Magazine

Did you know that up to 90 percent of visible skin aging is caused by sun damage? Or that one in five people get some form of skin cancer in their lifetime? If you want to keep your skin youthful and protect yourself from skin cancer, doesn’t it make logical sense to wear sunscreen?

Well, yes, but then... did you know that recent studies indicate many sunscreens can cause endocrine disruption and harm the wildlife in our ocean? And on top of that, approximately 95 percent of people are vitamin D deficient and being in the sun is what your body needs to create Vitamin D.

With all of this contradictory information, what are you supposed to do?

In this article, it is my intention to share with you what I know about sunscreen in hopes that it will help you and your loved ones stay safe in the sun because a lot of skin cancer and premature aging can be prevented with education, awareness, and an easy to apply product called sunscreen... but not just any sunscreen, one carefully crafted with safe and effective ingredients.

What is sunscreen?

We all know that it's the white creamy stuff (and sometimes tinted) that our parents were always yelling at us to put on before we left the house.  But, have you ever wondered how it actually works?Sunscreens are filters of UV energy.  They are used to filter out a portion of the sun's UVA and UVB rays before they penetrate your skin and cause damage.Do sunscreens block out all UV rays? No, sunscreens are filters, not "blocks."  All sunscreens let some UV radiation through at varying rates indicated by the SPF number. This is why the term "sunblock" is now prohibited by the FDA.What is the difference between UVA rays and UVB rays? UVA light rays are long wavelength (320-400 nm) light rays and can penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.  Unprotected exposure to these rays can lead to premature skin aging (aka: photoaging) and wrinkling and may initiate the development of skin cancers.   UVA rays are present during all daylight hours all months of the year and can penetrate through glass and clouds.UVB light rays are the mid-range wavelength (290-320 nm) light rays and are responsible for tanning or burning the superficial layers of your skin.  They also play a key role in the development of skin cancer.  These rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.An easy way to remember the difference between the two types of UV rays is to think of  "A' for Aging and "B" for Burning. What does SPF mean and why is it important to know? SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates how long you can stay in the sun without burning from the UVB light rays.  SPF does NOT indicate any protection from UVA rays. For example, an SPF 30 product allows 1/30th of the sun-burning UV radiation energy through your skin versus wearing no sunscreen at all.  Wearing an SPF 30 product will give you 30 times the protection before burning takes place. An SPF 15 product blocks about 94 percent of the UVB rays; an SPF 30 blocks about 97 percent of UVB rays; and an SPF 45 product blocks about 98 percent of those rays.  Most dermatologists recommend an SPF 30 because the difference in protection above that is minimal, especially considering no SPF number will block out 100 percent of the rays. What does "Broad Spectrum" mean and why should you look for it on your sunscreen bottle? The term "Broad Spectrum" indicates that the sunscreen protects you from UVA rays.  Since UVA rays are associated with aging and skin cancer, it is very important that you choose a sunscreen with "Broad Spectrum" protection or else you will only be protected from the UVB rays.Chemical (organic) & Mineral (inorganic) sunscreens, explained:When you see the term "organic", don't be fooled.  Sunscreens contain filters that either reflect or absorb UV rays, and there are two main types: organic and inorganic.  Understanding the difference between these two categories often proves tricky for most consumers who believe that the label "organic" (usually indicated by a USDA organic symbol in the food industry) denotes a healthy, safe product containing limited or no pesticides.  However, when used in reference to sunscreens, the term organic can often mean something entirely different.  It simply indicates that a substance contains carbon.Chemical (organic) SunscreenOrganic sunscreens absorb UV radiation and convert it into heat.  Organic sunscreens contain one or more of the following ingredients: oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, octinoxiate.  *** Note***These are all the ingredients we DO NOT want to see on the label!  These are the ones I am always preaching will cause issues and pigment coming up due to the heat they create as indicated. Mineral (inorganic) SunscreenInorganic sunscreens (aka “Chemical Free”, Natural Sunscreen) reflect and scatter UV radiation.  They contain zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide as the active ingredients. *Zinc and Titanium are the only ones you want to see on the label* LEWhy choose a mineral (inorganic) sunscreen? Mineral sunscreens are typically less irritating to skin and are considered safer than organic sunscreens.  Chemical sunscreens have a higher rate of allergic reactions in users and the possibility of the compound being disruptive to hormones such as estrogen is higher.  Additionally, some of these ingredients (oxybenzone) leach the coral reefs of their nutrients and bleach them white, as well as disrupt the development of fish and other wildlife. Why zinc oxide is the best mineral (inorganic) sunscreen choice:Zinc oxide is a much more effective sunscreen than titanium dioxide.  It is a better absorber across more UV wavelengths than titanium dioxide.  This means zinc oxide provides better UVA/UVB protection than titanium dioxide.  It is the only sunscreen active ingredient that's generally recognized as safe by the FDA for use on babies under six months of age for the purpose of diaper rash cream.  It is also a critical mineral nutrient you often find in vitamin supplementsZinc oxide has several properties which make it therapeutic to the skin and useful for certain skin conditions. It is antiseptic, astringent and absorbs moisture, which makes it particularly good for severe eczema.  It also helps the skin stay dry when exposed to alkaline liquids-- which is why its used in diaper rash cream.  Additionally, it is approved by the FDA as a Category 1 skin protectant and is used as a soothing preparation for facial redness and steroid-induced thinning of the epidermis. How long will it take for you to burn if you are wearing sunscreen?

  1. First, take the number of minutes you would normally burn in the sun without protection.  (Depending on one's skin type and severity of the sun, it only takes an average of 4 to 10 minutes (depending on UV index) for most people to burn from the sun without protection.  Sunburn may take hours to actually appear on the skin which means the damage is occurring before you can actually see it.)
  2. Multiply that number by the SPF of your product.  For example, with an SPF 30 x 6 minutes of sun time before burning = 180 (3 hours) ... this is how many minutes you can stay in the sun without burning if you apply sunscreen properly and reapply after 120 minutes.

Why and when do we need to re-apply sunscreen?Re-application is necessary and recommended every two hours and after swimming, sweating, or towel drying.  Use a water-resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.   Re-application of sunscreen only gives the first application a boost in effectiveness; it does not prolong the amount of time you can stay in the sun.  *This is often misunderstood** This means if you are fair skin, you cannot stay in the sun more than 120 minutes no matter how many times you re-apply sunscreen.  You need to get out of the sun or cover up with clothing if you don't want to photoage and damage your skin!

Bridal Checklist

How to prepare for the Big Day, Tips from Lisa Eddy

There are so many things you can do to look “naturally beautiful” for your Big Day and it can be a lot of work! I have created a timeline of the things brides need to start prepping on, to be the most gorgeous, best version of themselves for their Big Day.While this is an amazing timeline for brides, this could also be used for anyone looking for a personal makeover and self-improvement before any big event, like a birthday or travel plans!HAIR:Let’s start at the top!Get your hair in the best possible shape. Just like your skin and body, your hair looks best when it is really moisturized! Take extra care to condition your hair pre-wedding. I highly recommend an at home treatment mask 1-2 times a week. I have an amazing one on hand in my boutique. Ask me about it or call (415) 603-0042. You cant’ prepare too soon but at least 6 weeks in advance.Regarding styling your hair, I would recommend getting your date booked and trial as soon as you set your date because the good ones do book up fast.  Make sure you feel like you and that the style will hold but is also comfortable to wear for the whole day!HAIR REMOVAL: There are so many different options here.Note that all hair removal modalities can cause breakouts! If you are prone to breaking out, check out my Post Hair Removal Breakout Prevention Protocol:Step 1. It's a game changer when using these two clearing tools for 3 consecutive days post hair removal:Purifying Mask by Michelle Corley: https://www.lisaeddy.com/product/purifying-mask/Use this mask 1x per day on the treated area (clean skin) for 10 minutes, rinse and follow with Prodigal Pen and the rest of your regimen whether it is AM or PM. Sam Par Prodigal Pen: https://www.lisaeddy.com/product/prodigal-pen-6-ml/Glide this pen over the area 4-5x per day during this time. Please note, if you are having laser treatment with dry skin, you will need to address that first with a calming /hydrating mask and products so as not to irritate. Try one of my masks!Soothing Relief Mask: https://www.lisaeddy.com/product/soothing-relief-mask-50-ml/You can also, get in touch and let me help you!Laser:If going this route, I recommend starting laser hair removal treatments 6 months in advance. Lasers are fantastic for many areas, and where I see it really shine is for people who have course thick hair on the face, like the chin and lip. Those areas can be really prone to breakouts when the hair is growing back and when removed regularly. So this longer lasting method (no longer considered permanent as so many things cause hair growth) of removing hair can be a game changer!  I recommend starting at least six months in advance while following the protocol spelled out for you by the clinic while simultaneously using a healthy, corrective skincare line. With waxing, sugaring and threading, these are all safe, easy temporary ways of removing hair that are typically done on a maintenance program every 4 weeks. I wouldn’t start anything new close to the wedding. That said, I would start with the temporary hair removal processes at least 3 months in advance. Get someone with a good reputation who is seasoned in their craft so they don’t hurt you but can also help prevent possible issues and make your hair removal process as smooth (pun intended) and easy as possible.Waxing:This is a relatively safe, effective temporary hair removal modality.  If you are sensitive to shaving or want to remove facial hair, this is a great option. I highly recommend hard wax as it is much more gentle…thank the strip wax!Sugaring: This is a more gentle form of hair removal for the extremely sensitive peeps!  It is also economically-friendly as it creates less waste! It's just water, lemon & sugar: simple.Threading:This old-school, Middle Eastern hair removal modality made its way into the mainstream over the past years. Threading can be great when it is done well but can be really painful, especially with a rookie!FACE: Where everyone will be looking!Facial and Skin Regimens:I love to start seeing brides a year prior, although I have seen some as close as one week to the wedding! It really depends on how good you want to look for your Big Day and how far we are from your goals. Starting facials and an everyday skin regimen is beneficial 6-12 months before the main event.Makeup:Remember, the good makeup artist book fast!  I would suggest booking your makeup artist a year prior, 6 months at the latest.Make sure to do a test run and wear it out for the day. Get photographed in it to be sure you love the way you look. You will typically need more makeup than you think, but you also want to be sure that you feel like YOU and not an unrecognizable made-up version of you!Eyes: Puffy, dry or dark circles can really stand out and make you feel or look tired and older than you are.  You will need to get the right at-home products to use morning and night regularly as well as have little powerhouse masks and products to use the night before and the morning of the wedding.Lash Growth Products: I am super careful here! I  have one that I love as it’s one of the more gentle, safer, yet effective products out there. Assuming you are using something of the sort, I would say to let yourself get acclimated and give it enough time for good growth.I like to start 2-3 months in advance. This gives us time to account for any errors. If someone is using one lash product and stops and starts a new one, you may have lash-loss and you want to make sure there is time for regrowth! If you haven’t been using one, you should be fine! Just make sure you stay on it as indicated so they are blinging for the big day.Lash Extensions:If these are your jam or you’re considering them, I would try them out, sit with them and get photographed in them so you can be sure you like the look. Some lash extensions can look super full while others are more natural looking. Just be sure you like the look and are happy with them! I would say 4-6 weeks in advance, trying them out. Though, when you are in good hands, you can get the lashes done just 24-48 hours in advance assuming you don’t have any allergies to the glue!Lips:If you are prone to dry lips, I would get in the habit of conditioning them with a healthy lip balm morning and night a few weeks to months prior. You want those lips smooth and plump for the engagement photos as well, if you are going that route!Plumping Lips: Just to be clear, I cannot endorse any artificial plumping or injections.  Not only because they scare the S_*T out of me, but also because they often look scary! I have an amazing lip plump I can stand behind that does no harm and works within 30 days!If it’s just for the wedding, I would say at least 6 weeks prior. You can also do the same thing to prep for engagement photos in the same timeline.BODY:Feel good in that dress!Internal/Diet:While I don’t think much of Dr. Perricones’ skincare (no offense Doc!) I am very much in alignment with his pre-wedding diet recommendations! Especially the part about adding in extra Omegas or good fats, eating tons of leafy greens and berries the week prior while laying off the wine, sugar and carbs. This will do wonders for your eyes, complexion and any tummy bloating you may be prone to.Read more about this diet: https://www.brides.com/story/this-diet-will-give-you-perfect-skin-for-your-weddingDetoxing/Weight Loss:This varies depending on how far you have to go to get from a-z. In general, I think 6-12 months is a good gauge. If you feel like you are not in the best shape or have 20+ pounds to lose, then allow more time. If you’re in pretty good shape and just want to tighten up and look/feel your best then 6 months may be just fine for you.Consult a pro in this timeline. I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE pilates for reshaping, elongating and toning the body in a sexy, feminine way.Natural Spray Tanning: Test it out! I sell a package of 3 Natural Spray Tans to brides so they can get one for their Bachelorette Party, the second for their Bridal Shower and third for the Big Day. You can always do one when you don’t have anything going on just to be sure you are in good hands.Make sure to find a pro who is reputable and has good reviews so you don't end up orange, too dark or spotty. These days, there are good, safe formulas and colors like the products used at Lisa Eddy Skincare. If you are getting married on a Saturday, it is ideal to get the tan on a Thursday. I use a long-lasting, clean formula which lasts up to 7-10 days depending on how you’ve conditioned your skin prior. This means coming in really hydrated and exfoliated…and also keeping it hydrated post-tan. The more you are in and out of the water or sweating the less time the tan will last. This is fine as long as it wears off evenly as ours does.If you are getting a tan, please have your mani/pedi done prior! Last, but not least, as the saying goes, “If you can't tone it, tan it!”. LOL! Everything from cellulite, fat, veins, scars, they all look better tan.Legs: Are you looking for faster results than the gym can provide? Visit someone like me, who has a safe and super amazing body sculpting machine. I don’t mean Velashape or Coolsculpting. I mean something that will not cause harm, like the one I use which uses current, this is energy to heal and stimulate muscle toning. Just like workouts, if you have further to go, you will need to get in sooner.Boo-tay: Need to lift and tone? Again, Pilates is my favorite for this! I do it at home in my living room after years of training for Pilates Mat Level 1-2. I know I have good form and how to hold my body so it’s safe. Though, I do recommend taking classes to get to that point! If this isn’t enough or you need to quickly kick up your game, I would highly recommend safe body sculpting, using current with a pro like me. :)Feet: If you are one of those prone to uber dry feet, get cracking (pun intended) on giving your feet some extra love! I recommend lubing up at night and putting socks on to lock in that moisture. This will make your feet look better, smoother and softer. Your sweetie will appreciate your smooth feet at night in bed, too.Now that we’ve covered this timeline head-to-toe, I would love to hear from you! Call me for more information and details on the services I provide. You can also check out my new Bridal Services page. I look forward to helping you get ready for your Big Day!

Age Is A State Of Mind

I really do think age is a state of mind. Our souls don't age...unless we get jaded that is. I mean the essence of you is the same! As I am growing-up (wink wink) it feels funny to say "46" because I remember thinking that was old and my daughter will tell you it is, haha. In fact, she said the funniest thing to me several months back. She said, “Mom, how come you look so young when you are so old?”, it was the best back-handed compliment ever!I really think we need to re-evaluate the stigma around aging in this country. I love seeing women my age and older rocking their sexiness! I love how European women tend to stay sexy as they grow up. Italians, French, Spanish and even Russian women all seem to know how to keep their sexy on but we, as Americans, seem to think a woman of a certain age (which sadly seems to be past 40 on average) is no longer sexy...I BEG TO DIFFER! Sexy is in your mind. Your state of being. Your heart. Living out loud. Living in your body. This author, SARK, inspired me with the book "Succulent Wild Woman" over 20 years ago and I intend to be just that for as long as I am on this planet! When it comes to aging and death, as soon as we are born we are taught not to do things because it will "kill you". Everything is about anti-aging. The truth is that we are all going to die sometime and that we are all growing-up, or "getting wiser" as I like to say. :)Anti-aging is anti-life. Just like mother Teresa said, “I will never attend an anti-war rally; if you have a peace rally, invite me.” Make peace with the fact that our bodies will shift and change as we grow so let’s not fight against it. Let’s embrace it and ourselves and wrap our arms around our bodies with so much love and acceptance. I truly believe that we are responsible for so much of what happens in our lives because of the thoughts we think and the frequency we vibrate at. When we can come at this and ourselves with love and acceptance, everything shifts. Sure it’s a shift in perspective and as Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." We can talk about how our youth is being restored or how we are still so vibrant and youthful.I plan to be that woman that people are always like “No way, she can't be 75! Wow, she is so cute and stylish and full of energy." I plan to be walking in sneakers hand-in-hand with my beau traveling the country, all the while fooling everyone about my age and pushing the boundaries of what it means to grow-up.That being said, we still want to keep them guessing our age!How to stay young is DO WHAT YOU LOVE:

  • Hiking
  • Travel, explore and stay curious

Be You. Be Beauty. Be Love. Be Well.MY 5 TIPS ON HOW TO FOOL THEM ABOUT YOUR AGE:1. Care about the way you look every single day and how you are presenting yourself to the world.Own your sexy like the Euros do, regardless of your age! Both in wardrobe style & makeup together, be picture ready! Confidence is the best-kept beauty secret. Being confident is sexy at any age. I also suggest hiring the help of savvy pro’s like this one: http://michellemoquin.com/2. Eat well!  Get off crack, aka sugar! Sugar is horrible for your skin.I only really drink my sugar via wine or the occasional whiskey or tequila, which is enough!  Sugar is one of the biggest agers for the skin. It breaks down collagen (read loose skin) not to mention this is also the thing I see the body trying to purge the most via breakouts which wear on your skin's immunity and beauty.3. Sweat it out by doing something that you love.Dance is my favorite form of exercise as it's also like a moving meditation for me, bringing me into my body, into the moment, letting the source run through me. Check out this article about dance being the best workout: https://hackspirit.com/science-reveals-best-exercise-slow-aging-process/4. Drink more water than you think you should.Being dehydrated (which most people chronically are) can make you look much older. If that isn't motivation enough, I don't know what is, haha. When traveling you need to go way beyond what you think you need to do. Check out this doc's amazing research and advice on the symptoms your body may be revealing and how to get the water you need to stay hydrated. Salt & water are the essences of life! "You're not sick; you're thirsty. Don't treat thirst with medication.", Dr. F. Batmanghelidj from http://www.watercure.com/5. Spend time on your skin and body with professional treatments. To reverse and prevent aging along with really good homeware on the daily, make sure you are visiting a professional to learn about the best procedures specific to you, your skin and body. Below are some of my favorite treatments I offer at Lisa Eddy Skincare that show results sans harm to you or the environment:

  • Infra Slim: When I can, I will get in this treatment if I’m run down, not motivated to workout, or even need a little rest and purge. I'd be happy to share this treatment with you - https://www.lisaeddy.com/services/detox-slimming/
  • Micro-Current: This is a work out for your face! I know everyone is talking about yoga for your face these days. This is the advanced, non-invasive, holistic version for your face that takes it to a whole new level! Come see me for a Micro-Current - https://www.lisaeddy.com/services/facials/
  • LED Light Therapy: I leave my LED light in my nightstand and recommend my clients do the same, it's such a good bang for your buck, too! It is a fantastic tool to have around the house when you feel you need to do more with your skin, to prevent and correct and heal. All of your products will work better, too! It’s all about the penetration. I offer LED Light Therapy in addition to selling  LED products on my site. You can purchase them by clicking this link - https://www.lisaeddy.com/product-category/led-light-therapy/
  • Facial Infusion Peel: This is the bomb! Especially once a month!  This is a non-peel peel. Safe & healthy while repairing collagen and is visibly noticeable. Spring Clean: You!

0011.jpg

Spring is my favorite time of year. It always feels good to move out of those cold days and into warmer, longer days. Although the dark days are essential and designed to bring us inside to start a hibernation, if you will, so we can recharge. It is an essential part of our growth and evolution so we can shed old skin and ways and re-emerge revealing new improved versions of ourselves. With spring comes a time of revealing the new you just like mother earth is revealing new flowers, trees, and fruits. The world is buzzing with excitement and sunshine! Everyone is reaching for short sleeves, dresses, and shorts. It means exposing more of our bodies...uh-oh...are they ready for this jelly? How can we transition from winter to spring inside and out? Do you need to shed your skin, your makeup and old clothes to reveal the truly new you?It is time to get our physical bodies and realities up to the present moment of who we are now so we can put that out in the world. It's time to spring clean! We know this about our homes and closets but what about you?  What about removing all the stuff that no longer suits you? Shedding the old weight, fat, makeup, skin, clothing! Get ready to shine with me.I am highlighting all my favorite ways to get my body ready for the world and I would love to help you, too! Here is what I like to do to get my body ready for the world post-spring: 1. Sculpting & Detox!  Moving out the old and shaping up the new.  I love feeling sexy and confident and bathing suit ready all year long whether I am bundled up or in a bathing suit on the beach. In addition to dancing and doing pilates and some hiking here and there, I am a huge proponent of finding ways to move out the waste and stress and keep our bodies in shape. I love using the infra slim body detox to help move out the fat and waste and the Osmosis Body Sculpt to detox fat and shape the body. This is the perfect duo. I am also a fan of taking a break from alcohol this time of year to assist my body in this process and allowing it to process and move out the gunk without the extra taxing effort it takes to process alcohol which is basically sugar.2. Natural Botanical Spray Tan!  I love being tan without the bad side effects. I only use the cleanest, safest tan so I don't feel bad about it. I have got to say, there is something about rocking a tan that makes me feel prettier, sexier and overall better! It covers all the yucky stuff like fat, cellulite, veins. To prepare for my spray tan, I love to use my body exfoliant (usually every day for a week or two so the skin is soft and takes in moisture well) and then I moisturize in the morning and night leading up to the spray tan.  This assures a beautiful, even glow and longer lasting results .3. Facials! This is a no-brainer. Our faces are the first thing people see.  Often winter takes a toll on us, getting us dry and irritated.  I love to do a series as seasons change to kick my skin into gear and I'm glowing in no time.  I just did a Revita Pen facial with the Facial Infusion peel to kick off my series to putting my best face forward.4. A Personal Wardrobe Stylist! I consider this priceless. I love having someone who knows my body, what I like and what looks good on me. I especially love getting help as seasons change and I am refining my new look, when I need help getting ready for big events, trips or even just having outfits ready in a rush to look polished and cool for everyday life. These are all the secret weapons I use to look and feel confident, sexy and beautiful all year-round but as seasons change and warmer weather approaches, I find these extra tips really make a difference! Feeling sexy and stylish with glowing skin is a major confidence booster and confidence looks beautiful! Confidence is definitely the best kept beauty beauty secret.

Beauty is an Inside Job

I believe true beauty is sacred. First and foremost, true beauty comes from how we love and care for ourselves. It’s unapologetic. It’s not about making up for some sort of lack or deficiency on the surface because you aren’t already good enough or pretty enough, or skinny enough, or young enough… you get the point. :) True beauty is about really accepting, owning, enhancing and loving who you are from the inside out!Sure, there is an aspect of preserving our beauty topically with the right skincare routine using natural, healing, safe and effective products. However, nothing can replace or make up for the beautiful beings we become when we are really loving and caring for ourselves. What I am speaking about here is raw, true, sacred beauty.True beauty is more about self-love and self-care than anything else. This is about taking care of our bodies and souls so that we can shine from the inside out and bring our gifts to the world. It’s about letting source run through us.Have you noticed someone who is highly spiritual has a special kind of glow? They radiate more. They are more beautiful in an unexplainable kind of way. There is a glow that you can only get when you are connected to who you really are and to your source energy. To me, this is true beauty. This is our personal beauty blueprint, and it is sacred. How can you be more present and access all of the beauty that you are? It’s easy when things are going your way, no one is triggering you and life is smooth sailing. But what about when things aren’t going so great? The key lies in having tools to bring you back “home” when you deviate from this knowledge. This is the work! How we take care of ourselves sets the tone for how we feel and ultimately how we look. How can we take good care of ourselves so that we can radiate from the inside out? This is the question and the practice. Ask yourself, what can I do right now to feel good? Whatever helps you come back to the self is what you need.As women, it's easy to take care of everyone else first. We forget to take care of ourselves and prioritize our own needs. It's important, however, to give yourself permission to put you and your own needs first, even if that means disappointing other people. This is about filling up your own cup so you can shine as bright as you intend to and spread the love. Here are 3 key tips for connecting and reconnecting with yourself to keep you “growing and glowing” from the inside out, because beauty is an inside job.

1. Do more of what brings you joy. Do more of what you love.

For me, it's dancing and walks in nature. These are my centering tools. My moving meditation if you will. When we are feeling good, we are in alignment and source is running through us. This is because joy and love look good on everyone.

2. Make meditation a daily practice.

It can be easier than you think. It doesn’t have to be a big deal or something else to do. Set aside time daily to breathe even just for a few connected breaths every morning. I like to get up early in the morning to make this happen. It's easier for me to go inside when the city (and my daughter) is still sleeping. It’s about getting ahead of the momentum. Trust me, it’s worth it.

3. Prioritize self-care

This is your reset button. It's important to have moments when you check-in with yourself to see what you need in the moment to come back to balance, source, joy and love. For me, it's taking baths with Epsom salts. Sipping coffee in the sun. Getting massages and facials at least once a month. Workouts are also an essential part of this self-care piece. Moving our bodies helps us release stress and also energizes and invigorates us.Sure we are going to slip up.We are going to be challenged. It's about coming back to your center over and over because true beauty starts on the inside. Be gentle with yourself and you can be more gentle with others.Don't get it twisted, this is not a replacement for taking really good care of your skin and body on the outside :) That is still essential. It's just that you can’t have one without the other.
They definitely feed each other. When we feel good, we look good and when we look good we feel good. When you are tapped in, and source energy is running through you, you have access to a wealth of infinite wisdom and love. This is the way we have more love to share with the world. When we are filling up our own cup, we can approach life from a place of abundance and give back. This is how we can access our patience and compassion for others. It is about being fully present in your body so that you can radiate in a way that only you can. It is about your connection to our higher self/source/universe/ god/whatever you want to call it. It's about rising and shining and now is the time!

Detox Tips and Tools for Beautiful, Healthy Skin & Body

We all know the old adage, “You are what you eat.” There is some serious truth to that! Here we are coming out of the holiday season, a time when it's so easy to overindulge in sugar, alcohol, and lots of processed/heavy foods that are really hard for our little bodies to process. It's certainly not an easy time to make the best food choices with all of the parties and temptations all around. This can leave you feeling sluggish and bloated, or just not your best, most fit, energized, sexy self post holidays. You probably don’t want to think about what “you are” right now. :)Our bodies are constantly talking to us, constantly looking to find balance and give us indicators of what they need. They are so smart and sufficient, always generating new cells and wanting to be healthy. When we give our body what it needs, like a clean and healthy diet and enough clean water and rest, it is much easier to create more healthy, vibrant cells. When the body isn’t working too hard to digest, our body can use that energy elsewhere! The digestive system is one of the important systems in the body. When we are stressed, our body isn’t working as well. When we are dehydrated or tired, our body isn’t functioning optimally either and can’t process all that we ask it to! These conditions can certainly lead to making it super difficult for the body to break down our food. On top of that, we often don’t eat as well when we are maxed out for time and energy, eating foods that are more processed and high in sugars, which are harder to break down.Do you notice your skin acting up a bit, not only due to dryness on the outside with winter but also because the skin will act as a purging organ for all your body cannot process? It will literally push waste out your skin via breakouts, eczema, psoriasis or some other form of rash. Have you also noticed your body talking to you through tummy gurgles, bloating, burping, and gas a little more than usual right now? This is partially due to it being harder to process foods when you are dehydrated (oh so easy right now with the excess alcohol, travel, sugar etc.).Of course, we can’t be and aren’t perfect all of the time, and in fact, it might be a little boring if we were!! I am a firm believer in the 80/20 rule for most things in life, diet included. When we are good 80% of the time, we’ve got some wiggle room with the other 20%.Lord knows I can certainly over indulge in too much coffee and wine, but most of the time I eat really, really well. It's definitely about balance and sometimes we get out of balance and need to make our way back.If you want a different result, you need to do something different. This is a good time for a reset. I have created a list here of some of the essentials to the detox. If you can’t do all of these now, implement what you can to make some progress (which is better than none).

Sugar Detox

Take away the things that are hardest to digest/process. Sugar is the number one culprit. With so many people doing the “Dry January” these days, it can be an easier time to give up alcohol and sugar this month, which really is essential to come back to balance. SO it's time for the detox after all the retoxing! Did you know that consuming sugar can make you more dehydrated? Not just alcohol but because it is so hard for the body to metabolize sugar that it actually uses up more of its resources (energy and water) to break it down! One of the best ways to give our body a break is to cut out sugar and alcohol, which is essential for a true detox. Sugar and alcohol (which is also basically sugar), is so hard for the body to break down. By cutting it out, for a period of time, you can allow the digestive system a break and with the right products, actions, and even healthy detox services, you can actually help move this waste out of the body, which is essential to staying and feeling young, healthy & beautiful!

Aid Your Body in Digestion

When you are eating larger meals, or even things that you know your body has a harder time digesting, typically, dairy, wheat and sugar, add enzymes to your meal to help you with the digestion process. The more easily we are able to break down our food, the more we are able to get the nutrients we need and the more energy we feel. The result with good digestion is that we feel and look better.Eat whole foods closest to their natural state. I know it sounds simple right but it takes a little effort. I like to have my fruits and veggies sent to me via Farm Fresh To You so I can count on always having these in the house. If you have this going on, it will likely serve you to add Enzymes to your meals.

Take a Veggie Day

Even just one day a week, just eat fruits and veggies. This is helpful during a time when you are detoxing as well as anytime you feel you have been pushing your body too hard. Since fruits and veggies are so easy for the body to break down, your body can more easily move into repair and detox mode. This is great when you are using tools - herbs, vitamins, etc. (ask me more about this!) to pull the gunk out of the body.

H20. Just do it, as Nike says!

Find a way to get the water you need! Take your body weight, divide it by 2 & voila--that is the number of ounces you need per day. For any cup of caffeine or alcohol, counterbalance with an additional cup for cup. Once you know your baseline that you need per day, including average intake of caffeine & alcohol, figure out how many times you need to fill your favorite bottle to get it and set alarms on your phone throughout the day to make it happen. This will allow your body to flush all of the waste out much easier, instead of showing up on the skin via rashes and breakouts!

Detox!

Today, with the technology we have, some amazing tools and treatments are truly able to facilitate getting the waste/toxins that we have been accumulating out! I love both the infra slim body detox treatment and the osmosis body sculpting treatment I offer here. They are both incredible at stimulating detox as well as loosing inches, fat & stimulating muscle toning. Lastly, if you are ready for it, I am a huge proponent of using Internal Wellness as a Skin Strategy to Aging Gracefully.Aging doesn’t start on the skin. True beauty starts on the inside with healthy cells. We live in a very busy, stressful, world full of chemicals and waste. Thank goodness we have products and equipment that actually work now. I would love to help you clean up your act (so to speak) and get your detox on for a beautifully radiant you!

Latest Tips for Winterizing Your Skin

lisaeddy-winterize-skin-blog-2-image.jpg

Back in 2015, I gave you some tips for winterizing your skin routine. And now, here are my latest tips for keeping fabulous-looking skin when your family is stressing you out, and when the weather is drying you out!Of all the challenging things our skin has to tolerate, the change of seasons along with cold, harsh weather is one of the hardest. Why is dry skin an issue? Aside from not feeling great, dry skin can lead to both irritation and superficial wrinkles, making us look older (never ok!). This can make our skin dull and flaky, which makeup only highlights. Thanks to travel, stress and a few too many cocktails this time of year, our skin often needs more TLC during winter months. Here’s how to replenish:Start the day with warm water and lemon. It can be hard to drink enough water when it’s cold out since we may not feel as thirsty. Switching to warm water with lemon can help. I also love to add tinctures to water to give my H20 a little more pizazz!Don’t strip your skin. Harsh cleansers strip away the natural oils on your skin. Instead, reach for gentle cleansing products that respect skins integrity and keep it intact. The key ingredient in a cleanser should be natural food-based surfactants like kumquat, kiwi and coconut. Avoid sodium lauryl sulfate and harsh acid cleansers. Another point to keep in mind is that your skin shouldn't feel dry or squeaky clean after you wash it. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn’t mean it’s clean, it means it’s dry! Our natural oils not only protect us, but they also help keep our natural, youthful glow.Avoid too much exfoliation. Don’t overdo it! While gentle exfoliation can help facilitate nutrient absorption, harsh exfoliants can have an adverse effect. When your skin is already über dry or sensitive, I recommend you move away from intense exfoliants which may lead to irritation.More moisture, please! This is the time to kick up your moisture game! One easy way to do so is by adding a boost of moisture with a facial oil. This can be added to your cream in the AM or PM or both! You can also take time to massage the oil into your skin on top of whatever serum(s) you use and under your current moisturizer. You can opt to use a more intense moisturizer just at night or both morning and evening, depending on how dry your skin is.Master the art of masking. A mask a day keeps the skin doctor away. Ok…masking twice a week will do the trick, but you have to admit it’s catchy. Honestly, when you’re using a pure, gently hydrating mask, you can use it several days a week to help your skin get back in balance. Once balance is reached, you can move to maintenance mode and use the mask just twice a week.Don’t have what you need or even know what you need? This is the perfect time to outsource and get the professional help you need to guide you towards the right products and to keep you on track. A skin consultant or facial will help you know exactly what you need to change in your regimen, helping your skin glow all winter long.BOOK TODAY

4 Tips to Look Radiant This Holiday Season

lisaeddy-winterize-skin-blog-image.jpg

Do you feel like the holiday season is affecting your skin? My Self-Care & Relaxation Tips will help you cope with the holiday madness. In addition, my upcoming topic, Winterize Your Skin Routine is a must-read if you want radiant skin through the winter season. These pointers will help you stay grounded and look your best. As you’ll see in my video, proper self-care is essential to staying sane during stressful times. To start, cultivate a few self-care rituals to keep in rotation when traveling or dealing with family obligations and stress. Here are some of my favorite practices to incorporate into my routine when I want to feel and look my best.1. Stop, drop and breathe.  How is it that we can forget to breathe? Our breath is one of the best tools for calming our body, connecting to ourselves and to source energy. Yet we often forget to breathe when we are in a rush or under stress. Here’s how to take a truly calming breath: Inhale deeply in one fluid, continuous motion and as soon as you finish your inhale, start your exhale. This means no stopping or holding the breath. Three connected breaths can do wonders to calm nerves and to get you back in the moment.Yes, it really can be that simple. Breathing improves circulation and helps oxygenate the cells, which is ultimately incredibly beautifying as well.2. Multi-task with a bath.

Epsom salt baths offer two incredible benefits that lead to looking radiant. First, soaking in a warm tub helps us relax and feel calm. Second, Epsom salt pulls out impurities, helping our bodies detoxify. In addition, Epsom salt baths can prevent and help with jet lag. I love taking baths when I need a me-break. For even more multi-tasking beauty power, treat your face simultaneously with a mask and voilà, you are on your way back to you.3. Harness the power of essential oils. Who doesn’t love a pleasing scent? For some serious de-stressing power, use essential oils and aromatherapy as a mood elevator. Spray them in the air, on your body, add them to a bath or dab on pulse points like perfume. I also like to place a drop directly into cupped hands to inhale for immediate benefits. As a bonus, certain essential oils like pine and eucalyptus are great for boosting the immune system this time of year. These can be used in the bath or on the shower wall where heat helps release the healing benefits.4. Mega-Moisture People often ask me what the fountain of youth is. If I had to pick one thing, I would say moisture both internally and topically. The key here is to find a way to get more water in. I think Nike said it best with, “Just do it.”Here’s a little trick to help your body hold hydration internally: take a pinch of sea salt and place it directly on your tongue before chugging water. Minerals found in sea salt help your body hold on to moisture. This is especially important when we get depleted due to stress.Topically, I recommend you use moisturizing masks. For extra oomph, add a booster oil to your mask and be sure to drink enough water, particularly in the winter. Simple Ways to a Better Digestion

lisaeddy-osmosis-promo-digestion-webblog.png
  1. Plan ahead. Supplement with enzymes when you know you have a hard time digesting a particular food, are traveling, or over-indulging.  By taking enzymes with your meal to help break down the food to avoid the bloat and possible repercussions of the waste coming out the skin, and perhaps the most important bonus is better nutrient absorption!
  2. This is one of the most important tips I share that isn’t common knowledge and helps immensely with digestion.  Avoid drinking water with your meals!  It washes away your digestive enzymes!  This cannot be over stated.  Drink water 30 minutes prior to meals and 30 minutes after.  Are you ready for this?  The only thing that you should drink with your meal is wine because your body receives it like a food! Now you can feel good about drinking wine. :)
  3. Avoid emotional eating by being present with whatever is up for you.  Perhaps you need to take a moment and step away from family if you are feeling emotions coming up.  Go outside or to the bathroom and just let yourself breathe and acknowledge what you are feeling so you can move it through you.
